Formerly known as Johannesburg International Airport, Tambo is the busiest airport in the whole of Africa. Ample parking is provided at the airport, with 5000 parking bays. However, to relieve stress on the day, it is advisable to book online beforehand. Short term parking is not available for those dropping passengers off or picking them up. Instead, the upper roadway outside the airport is for picking passengers up, whilst the lower roadway is for dropping passengers off.
Underground auto parking is available from the airport, and free shuttle buses run passenger from further car parks to the terminal buildings. However, a short walk is likely from car parks closer to the airport.
